Ohio Hybridizers Garden at Franklin Park Conservatory

	Ohio Hybridizers' Garden at Franklin Park Conservatory Established in April 2005
	The MCDS project offers an historical approach to displaying the work of the Ohio hybridizers. The garden consists of a bed featuring daylilies from the 1920s through the 1970s; beds for the 1980s, the 1990s and the 2000s; and a bed featuring American Hemerocallis Society (AHS) award winning daylilies. The garden contains some exceptional specimens of difficult to find Ohio daylilies. The MCDS dedication ceremony for the Ohio Daylily Hybridizers' Garden was held on July 9, 2006 during the MCDS Daylily Show at Franklin Park Conservatory. In 2006, the garden was approved as an official AHS Display Garden.
	The garden was enlarged and renovated in the spring of 2006, and now includes a number of 2005 and 2006 registered introductions from Diana and Jamie Gossard, Richard Norris, JR Blanton, Mike and Sandy Holmes, Joel Polston, Ralph Haehn, Ken Blanchard, Dan Bachman, and Gerda Brooker. The generosity of our Ohio Hybridizers has been overwhelming. Dan Bachman and Mike Holmes have also contributed numerous historic Ohio daylilies for the garden. The Ohio Hybridizers' Historic Daylily Beds were enlarged in spring 2009. Special thanks to Sarah and Steve Zolock for their generous donation of all the Stout Award winners. As of Fall 2009, there are more than 450 daylily cultivars planted in the Ohio Hybridizers' Garden. This includes 47 cultivars that have received national awards. Coming Fall 2009, MCDS will add a Moldovan collection. Visitors are impressed by the luxuriant growth and bloom of our favorite flower. Come and see it this summer!
	SPRING 2009 UPDATE and photos of MCDS members at work. FALL 2010 UPDATE: Five beds have been created exclusively for Moldovan cultivars. We currently have 175 of the more than 420 registered Moldovan daylilies. The Ohio Hybridizers' Daylily Garden boast a total of 649 cultivars and species.
