MCDS Activities

Learn, Share and Socialize:  The biggest benefit of joining MCDS is the many people you meet.  The society is one of the best places to meet other central Ohio gardeners, commercial growers, and hybridizers.

Special Perks with Membership: MCDS holds member plant drawings in both the spring and summer where many newer varieties of daylilies are given to the members to be grown and returned for MCDS auctions.   MCDS also maintains a list of open gardens that can be toured by the members.  Members also receive the MCDS Newsletter, published four times a year.

About the MCDS Annual Daylily Show
The event is held in July at the Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, OH.  It is open to the public at no charge.

The event showcases the best in the daylily world with around 450 entries, representing hundreds of varieties.  Judges accredited by the American Hemerocallis Society (AHS) judge the daylilies.

Also included in the show is a stunning design competition, where flower arrangements (highlighting daylilies) are judged by a panel of judges accredited by the National Garden Clubs, Inc.  Also of interest is Daylilies in the Arts, where a variety of glasswork, stitchery, photography, and art -- inspired by daylilies -- are displayed.

MCDS offers training to anyone who wants to enter a flower or an arrangement into this show.  Awards include gift certificates, ribbons and rosettes.

About the MCDS Annual Plant Sale

The MCDS annual plant sale is held in August at the Franklin Park Conservatory.  The sale attracts hundreds of buyers from central Ohio and other locations.  MCDS sells thousands of daylilies (identified by name with description and organized by color and type) to the general public and MCDS members at each plant sale.
