2005 Bus Trip
2006 Bus Trip

In July 2006, MCDS members arranged a central Ohio garden bus trip. The trip included visiting the gardens of Beth Veldey, Bob Thomas, Pat and Larry Bullen, Bill and Sylvia Mellinger, Karen and Jerry Ciula and Bob and Marie Gill. We saw some exceptionally fine gardens in peak bloom. Beth Veldey had an exceptional hosta garden. She is currently the president of the Central Ohio Hosta Society. We spent an hour purchasing plants from Bob Thomas in Centerburg, Ohio. Bob has an eceptional collection of 2005 and 2006 plants from Stamile, Gossard, Trimmer and others. He has many spiders and unusual forms in his "Rabbit Patch Garden". We had a picnic lunch at the Bullen's while admiring their channel catfish and hummingbirds, then experienced a minor setback when our bus got stuck in the mud for two hours. A tow truck winched the bus out of the mud and we were on our way. In Gahanna, we saw three exceptional gardens in the same neighborhood. Of special interest were Special Ovation and Ice Cream Dream,Techny Spider and Primal Scream in the Ciula garden, Fresh Start in the Gill garden and Scatch and Sniff, Double Topaz and George Jets On in the Mellinger garden. Many plants were purchased on the trip and a great time was had by all. Photos of the trip are shown below:
